Why The Fi Society and why now? Simply, because so many of us have grown weary of the state and discord of the world, but don’t quite know what to do about it. Well….as Mother Theresa said, “It is hard to do big things with big problems, all we can do is many small things with great love.”
The Fi Society may not be love, but you may fall in love with the idea. It is not meant to allow us to flippantly dismiss the challenges of the world, but rather is a way to put things in perspective. A way to remind us of the one thing you do have some very real control over—your response to the craziness. Dismiss the things that cause tension and strife and embrace the things that will help restore our respect and compassion for each other and the planet we call home.
Objective and Uncompromising Principals
Cannot be subtracted from, but may be added to as is fitting for each individual member:
- Treat everyone with respect.
- Replace greed, avarice, and the toxic, harmful aspects of your ego with kindness and empathy.
- Treat others as you would like to be treated.
- Leave the world a better place than you found it.
- Remember that the only love and respect you get equals the love and respect you are willing to give.
Subjective Traits and Actions
Can always be added to, but also subtracted from in cases where it no longer exists…one can only hope. These are essentially the Fuck It portion of the Fi Society:
- Hatred and unmoored anger at others and….reality.
- Violence and harm to others.
- The assault on our environment.
- The assault on common sense and logic.
- The assault on decency and respect for the beliefs of others.
- The assault on our democracy.
- And most importantly, the assault on the truth.
